What is Intermittent Fasting?
Intermittent fasting is a style of eating that rotates between periods of fasting and eating. It doesn’t specify the exact foods to eat but only when you shout eat. It is not a diet but a lifestyle or you can say an eating pattern.
There are two ways to do intermittent fasting.
You either fast daily for 16 hours or fast for 24 hours, twice a week.
The 16/8 method: This method was created by fitness trainer and nutritionist, Martin Berkhan and is also called the Leangains protocol, it involves eating your first meal at noon and your last meal at 8:00 p.m. You can customize this method to fit you better.
Let’s say you are the kind of person who simply cannot miss breakfast, you can eat your last meal by 4:00 p.m. and your first meal by 7 or 8: a.m. This way you have fasted for 15-16 hours without missing breakfast.
Eat-Stop-Eat: This method was created by Brad Pilon, author of the popular book “Eat Stop Eat”. It involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.
